The first Wild Film Festival was held in Dumfries from the 24-26 March this year. I drove down on a beautiful sunny day to see The Same Hillside, an audiovisual installation by artist filmmaker John Wallace.

March this year (2017) saw the 7th annual Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, hosted by the Heart of Hawick in the Scottish borders. A truly international event, the festival included some of the most exciting work from both established and emerging experimental filmmakers and artists curated by creative director Richard Ashrowan, himself an artist of the moving image. This year’s programme didn't have a fixed theme, rather it was formed by the film submissions themselves, some of which reflected global issues of today, while others were concerned with the engagement of experiencing materiality within aspects of living.
