Filmpoetry event with Guy Sherwin, Jennifer Wicks and Jen Hadfield.
This event took place on the 1st Nov 2017, and I organised it as part of my doctoral research project Experiencing the Filmpoem. The evening explored the unique relationship between film and poetry through poetry readings, film screenings and discussion relating to the artistic process, memory, nature and landscape. Poet Jen Hadfield read some new poetry including Draftmanship, The Graves of Children and A Recipe, artist and filmmaker Guy Sherwin screened his own 16mm print of Messages, Glasgow-based artist Jennifer Wicks screened Genius Loci and Sound of Snow. Kevin MacNeil, novelist, poet, screenwriter and Stirling University tutor invited postgraduate creative writing students to read their work. Sarah McLean and Thomas Johnson read some poems, which were amazingly witty and truthful observations. I screened my new filmpoem The Essence of Place and Roseanne Watt screened her film Nightwalk with Natterjacks.
